Phoenix, Arizona

Phoenix is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine, it is the 5th largest city in the United States and the capital of Arizona. Located in the southwest, Phoenix is known for its mild winters, desert landscapes, and access to a wide range of activities that are only a few hours away (skiing during the winter, beaches during the summer, fishing and water sports at area lakes, and hiking all year around).

Phoenix real estate is known for its affordability and low property taxes. While we lack some of the design characteristics as other areas around the country (Phoenix homes typically do not have basements, for example), Phoenix housing does offer a range of contempory and historic architecture, sizes, and amenities. The typical Phoenix home is a stucco exterior with a concrete tile roof in a home owners association, especially if you are looking for homes constructed within the last 25 years.  On the other hand, older styles of housing in the Phoenix area are solid block/brick construction and a few post war modern styles are sprinkled throughout the Phoenix area (such as the red brick Hallcraft homes located near downtown Scottsdale).

Older homes tend to feature greener landscaping while homes within the last quarter century feature low maintence desert landscaping that uses little to no water called xeriscaping. Desert landscaping is often accentuated with the iconic saguaro cacti (think of the tall cactus featured in the the Roadrunner cartoons that had arms).  Many homes have swimming pools though Phoenicians have a love/hate relationship with pools for there are those that cannot live without one while the other half doesn't see the practical need of maintain a large hole in the ground that they only use for a few months out of the year...yes, it is true that the longer you live here, the shorter your swimming season becomes.

Phoenix is an metropolitan area built with suburbs. While there is a downtown core, there are many thriving suburban areas in the metro area that offer unique and quaint features not found in other areas around town. Downtown Glendale offers a diverse range of antique shops among their historic turn of the century houses while downtown Cave Creek caters to the horseback riding cowboys and Harley Davidson motorcylce crowds that enjoy the Friday night rodeo at the Buffalo Chip.  Mesa, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Chandler, and other suburban areas are great areas to explore as well.

Phoenix has proven to be a robust and thriving city in the desert. There is a diverse and wide range of housing options that appeal to every type of home buyer in the Phoenix area. Give me a call at 480-888-1234 and let's talk about the variety of options that you may have available.

Rob is the best Realtor that I could imagine. He is extremely knowledgeable and uses that information to help you throughout the process. He will point out negatives and potential hazards in homes, as his main purpose is to get you into the right house for you, not to make a sale. He is patient, understanding, and honest. I have bought and sold a home with Rob, and I am in the process of selling and purchasing a new home now.
